I am Mrs. Charlotte Rysavy. That is pronounced rih-SHAW-vee.

I have spent the last seventeen years homeschooling my four sons from kindergarten through high school. Three have graduated and one is advancing toward the end of his high school career. My bachelors degree from College of Charleston is in Applied Mathematics with application in Computer Science. Mathematics, chemistry, physics, writing, and ancient Greek are my academic loves. Knitting, music, and art are my free time activities. I loved working as a computer programmer but my priorities changed with the birth of my first child. Raising my children took precedent over a career and my children’s education quickly became my newest passion. With four children over a six-year age span each with different learning styles, I became adept at presenting topics in ways that each could understand. I modeled our school days after the one room classroom where many topics are taught together with different expectations from each grade level, older students review what they know by assisting the younger students, and the younger students are stretched to higher standards by being exposed to the older students. This has uniquely prepared me to take on the multi grade middle school classroom. Middle school is traditionally a difficult time in a student’s life but it doesn’t have to be that way. An invested teacher and a fun classroom breathes life into students as they transition from the years of being small children guided by others to the more independent thinkers and leaders high schoolers are expected to be.
