STATEMENT OF FAITH

The faculty and staff of Trinity Classical Academy confess the God of the Bible who has revealed himself as three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God Holy Spirit. We cling to the inerrancy of scripture and the rich apostolic tradition of God’s Church. We hold fast to the work of the Holy Spirit through early church fathers who defended the faith and sought unity through creedal and liturgical worship. We believe that the three ecumenical creeds (Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian) clearly and boldly describe the trinitarian God of the universe, thus revealing His character and nature. TCA is a non-denominational organization, and therefore does not ascribe to specific dogma or doctrine of any one denomination. However, we recognize and celebrate the traditions of the church, including the liturgical calendar and regular hours and offices for prayer. We strive to foster spirited and thoughtful theological discourse between faculty, staff, and families and welcome all members of the Christian faith who seek to grow God’s Kingdom through this sort of community and fellowship. Outside of the historic beliefs of the church as outlined by the creeds, we ascribe to the following Biblical positions on specific issues to which we require the faculty and staff to align:

-
Original Sin - We believe that since the fall, all men and women are born into this world with sin, and naturally reject the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Trinity. Without the free gift of salvation given through Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection, our original sin would condemn each of us to death and eternally separate us from God. We are incapable of overcoming sin, death, and the devil through our own efforts and reject all forms of neo-pelagianism that infect the church today.
Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned. - Romans 5:12
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. - Psalm 51:5
-
Marriage - We believe that scripture defines marriage as the life-long covenant between one man and one woman and that all forms of sexual activity outside of marriage to include adultery, premarital sex, extra-marital sex, polygamy, homosexuality, and pornography violate the 6th commandment.
Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. - Genesis 2:24
-
Abortion and Euthanasia - We believe that scripture reveals the truth of life at conception and that God is integral in the formation of human beings in the womb. As such, all human life is sacred and worthy of equal protection under the law. From this perspective, we also believe that euthanasia rejects the value that God gives each human being and seeks to usurp God’s sovereignty over the day of one’s natural death. Both practices have created a culture of death in the modern world against which Christians must boldly stand.
For you formed my inward parts: you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. - Psalm 139:13
-
Gender - We believe that each human being is created in the image of God, that male and female are equal reflections of God’s image, and that gender is immutable. We believe that God explicitly creates each person to reflect His image as male or female and that this definitive distinction is not a fluid social construct or individual decision but a declaration of God’s explicit will as revealed in Scripture.
So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. - Genesis 1:27
