I am Mrs. Beth Champion Mason, and I will be teaching all levels of Latin at Trinity Classical Academy this year. I’m excited to launch into this new adventure! For the past eight years, I’ve been homeschooling my son Jonathan, after following God’s leading to pull hi
m out of public school after the 3rd grade. My bachelor’s degree is in English and Secondary Education, but since college I’ve enjoyed a few different careers, some of them overlapping. I was a technical writer with a computer consulting firm for about a decade, before leaving that to pursue music ministry full time. I spent many years writing and recording music and touring the country, sharing my music and testimony. I’ve also been a worship leader at several churches during that time, including three years as the Contemporary Music Director and Choir Director at Hope Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach. Teaching has always been part of who I am; even while actively pursuing music in other ways, I taught private music lessons for nearly 10 years and will be teaching some music students again this fall. Also, I’ve always loved languages, including studying several years of French in high school and college, as well as studying Spanish alongside my son during our homeschooling years. So when the opportunity to teach Latin at TCA presented itself, it felt like a natural fit. My favorite part about teaching is getting to know my students and having the privilege to speak into their lives about the grand plan the Lord has for each of them.
